Dr Itumeleng Ntatamala is an Occupational Medicine specialist and holds a joint appointment as Senior Lecturer in the Division of Occupational Medicine in the School of Public Health as well as Occupational Medicine Consultant in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Dr Ntatamala heads the Occupational Medicine clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital and provides clinical training to registrars in the occupational medicine specialist training programme at UCT. He also convenes the MMed in Occupational Medicine and provides research and supervisory support to students undertaking research at postgraduate level (Masters) in the Occupational Medicine Division and School of Public Health. He is a recipient of the Harry Crossley Clinical Research Fellow. His research has a major focus on health impacts due to mining exposures, occupational health of health workers, biological hazards, and mental health in the workplace. Dr Ntatamala provides technical support and expertise in occupational health policy formulation, occupational health and safety law and worker’s compensation in South Africa at institutional, provincial, and national level. He is currently registered for a PhD in Public Health at the University of Cape Town.
